The Time Has Come

Greetings friends!

As I inch ever so closer to my 30th birthday (little less than 3 months from today), I finally feel that my life is heading in the right direction. I’ve managed to free myself of (most of) the debt grown during my misguided 20s, and even have a little money in the bank! Once this little deployment is over, it looks like I can finally start moving on to bigger and better things and actually do something with my life. Might be some pains along the way, like losing my job in February, but ultimately I think that be a good thing for me, and if some other things work out as expected when I get home (power of positive thinking), I should end up doing okay in the end.

However, as I approach this next stage in my life, I feel that there is something missing. I’ve touched on it briefly in previous blogs, mainly the one about my “muse.” But I do truly believe, as Napolean Hill stated in “Think and Grow Rich,” that behind every successful/powerful man, there is an equally successful/powerful woman. This woman either works behind the scenes ensuring that the man’s ideas are nurtured (Edison often relied on the counsel of his wife when embarking on new inventions) or works directly in influencing the actions of the man (J.P. Morgan would not make an investment decision without first bouncing the thought off of his lifelong secretary). Because of this, it is important for me to find that powerful woman to help me be successful. This brings me to the primary purpose of this here blog.

All that being said, it is time to begin the search in earnest for the next Mrs. Eberhard. I’ll even let you keep your name if it is super important to you. There are minimal requirements and all applications will be considered using the following requirements:

– born between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989 (preference to the earlier part of the decade)
– college graduate or currently enrolled seeking degree (in anything really)
– no children (I don’t have any so you shouldn’t either), but you want some in the near to mid-future (my Mom needs some more grandkids!)
– one or fewer previous marriages (been there, done that, so it’s okay)
– willing to relocate from your current location to the grand state of Utah within the next few years (I’ll give you some time to get used to that idea)

I think that is it. If you are interested in applying, drop me a line somehow. Depending on how many applicants we get, we might see if VH1 or MTV will give me a reality show or something to pick a winner. I’m picturing more like “Amazing Race” and less like “The Bachelor.” Maybe some elements of “Double Dare” thrown in. I’d really like to get in the “marriage pipeline” sometime before my parent’s 50th Anniversary, which I think happens in 2014. I need a date for whatever party we throw, so it would be nice to get going on that soon.

If perchance you happen to fall outside of any of the requirements, waivers will be considered on a case by case basis. And as a note to all potential applicants: if My Muse decides to apply, well, everyone else is out of luck. Sorry.

Until next time…

P.S. I know you all are waiting for great blog posts about a certain trip to Germany I took last month. I am trying to figure out a way to get some stuff up, so keep an eye out in the near future!
